Pasargadae Assyrian-Style Reliefs

This relief is from the gate house at Pasargadae and it clearly illustrates the early years of Persian rule. Unlike later reliefs at Persepolis, this relief shows the Persians without their own developed iconography. Borrowing heavily from Assyrian reliefs, this particular winged genie also wears a very Egyptianising crown.
