Although Darius' palace at Susa is heavily ruined, archaeological finds suggest that it was a lavish construction indeed. Some of the more spectacular finds have been these reliefs formed out of glazed tiles. Depicting soldiers and mythical beasts, these tiles would have once adorned the walls of the palace. This example is from the Tehran Museum of Archaeology although the Louvre Museum also holds some impressive examples.
